City Farmhouse Pop Up Fair Delight

At 3pm today, I saw a post on Facebook about the City Farmhouse Pop Up Fair. I scooped up My Girl and headed south. And I was not disappointed. Refurbished furniture, crafts, music, food – so many delightful things! She came home with a necklace, I scored my first real piece of artwork – I feel so grown up! The next one is October 16 & 17 – mark your calendar now!

Here are some shots of our afternoon. I would’ve loved to have gotten a few more detail shots, but I was a little busy ensuring three year old hands weren’t breaking any details 🙂 Enjoy!

On the fly Wedding Photos!

My sister-in-law had a small wedding at her parents’ home. And once there, I grabbed my camera and took some unplanned portrait shots of the bride and groom. Luckily I got there just before the sun was setting & there was an amazing field location right next to the house. This shoot was on the fly, but I think I got some keepers. I was also dealing with a very ugly post-rain sky, so I incorporated a sky overlay for the first time. I may have overdone the sky a bit, but you gotta start somewhere!

Five Favorites of the Week

Here are five of my favorite photos I’ve snapped the past week…

I took this shot on my front porch as My Girl and I were picking flowers from our yard. This is one of those pictures that as soon as I snapped it, I knew it was a keeper. That smirk!

This past weekend, we took our new-to-us camper for its inaugural trip. Though part of the allure to camping is escaping technology, when your littlest is crying & you’ve sprung a leak in your bathroom, sometimes you gotta pull out all the stops! (And your camera.)

When I was editing some photos, I realized I hadn’t taken my son our for a little photo shoot in a long time. So while big sis was napping, we went to our front yard for a couple of shots. Just love those not-such-a-baby toes!

This one was taken while just playing in the backyard…I may or may not have laid in some dog poop remnants to get this shot. But it was worth it. I can just picture this kiddo holding a basketball in his senior pics 17 years from now!

And on a lazy Saturday morning, I got this shot of My Girl laying in our big bed, where she usually says “Let’s just cuddle two more minutes.” That morning, I told her I’d let her look at some princess pictures if she let me get out my camera. Win, win.

And obviously, I’ve yet to find an editing style. 🙂

My Bestie’s Boys

My bestie’s son is turning one soon. So a Whayce reunion made a photo shoot essential. This was my first time attempting photos for someone else in the morning light. Babies don’t care about the golden hour, so the shoot was a little too late and the rays were a little intense. I was pretty preoccupied with the light & didn’t really think about all the neighborhood busyness in the background. Lesson learned.

Here are some of my favorites of my favorite people!

Four toddlers went on a hike…

My sister’s family was in town, and we decided to take the kiddos on a little hike around Lake Radnor here in Nashville. My photography challenge for the month is took take long shots & macro shots to create a story, and this was the perfect opportunity to practice. The white balance got a little wonky with all the different lighting situations, but I think we got some keepers.

It’s Been Awhile…

That’s an understatement. But I’m back!

I was MIA because my second baby wasn’t a fan of night sleeping. Blogging took a backseat to sleeping – and photography! My hobby has become a obsession, a very expensive & time-consuming obsession. For an early birthday present, I upgraded my camera from Nikon D90 to a Nikon D750! Guys, I’m legit now. And I started a year-long photography challenge that has already helped me grow in just three short months. Though I’m struggling to find “my style,” I hope that will come with more shooting.

So I figured if I’m spending so much time on something, might as well post it for peeps to see! I’ve trying to capture everyday life with my kiddos. Here are a few of my favorites from this month of shooting…
